A valve that fits the mounting pattern can still operate the circuit incorrectly. Function and electrical details must be checked before installation.

- Spool symbol and center condition
- Spring return, detent or centering
- Pilot, manual override or special controls
Performance and installation
- Pressure and flow limits
- Mounting standard and port pattern
- Pressure drop and leakage expectations
- Physical envelope and connector clearance
Electrical and material details
- AC or DC voltage
- Connector style and orientation
- Coil power and protection rating
- Seal material, fluid and temperature
Replacement decision table
| Check | Acceptable evidence | Failure if assumed |
|---|---|---|
| De-energized flow state | Hydraulic symbol or verified spool code | Unexpected actuator motion, blocked flow or unloaded pressure |
| Mounting interface | Standard drawing plus measured installed pattern | A valve may bolt on yet connect ports incorrectly |
| Flow and pressure drop | Manufacturer curve or relevant test data at actual flow | Slow motion, heat and excessive energy loss |
| Solenoid and connector | Coil label, datasheet and connector pinout | Coil failure, control fault or reversed actuation |
| Seals and environment | Fluid, temperature and material confirmation | Swelling, hardening, leakage or shortened life |
Commissioning boundary
Before removal, record the original valve orientation, wiring, pressure settings and a normal machine cycle. Commission a changed model at controlled pressure and speed, verify every commanded and neutral state, and stop if motion, pressure, leakage, noise or temperature differs from the acceptance plan.
A matching mounting pattern is only one check. It is never a substitute for confirming the circuit function.
